How we measure

How we measure a website, and what we will not claim.

Automika is a young studio without ten years of case studies behind it. So instead of asking you to trust a track record we don't yet have, we publish the method: what gets tracked from the day a site goes live, what a weekly report contains, and the line we will not cross when writing up a result.

From day one

What gets instrumented at launch.

Every Automika build ships with the same four measurement pieces before it goes live, not added later once someone asks for numbers.

Consent-gated GA4

Google Analytics 4 is installed from launch, and every event fires only after a visitor accepts cookies. No consent, no event: the figures are a sample of consenting visitors, not a count of everyone who visited.

Google Search Console

Verified at launch, so impressions, clicks and search queries are visible from the first day the site is live, rather than backdated or estimated once someone remembers to set it up.

The enquiry log

Every enquiry is recorded with its source page, project type and contact preference. Personal details are kept out of reporting; the log exists to show which pages and paths produce enquiries, not to hold customer data.

CTA click events

Phone, WhatsApp, form and booking links each fire a tagged event when tapped, so a click can be traced back to the exact page and button that produced it.

Every week

What a weekly report contains.

Short and specific, sent to the client directly, not a dashboard link nobody opens.

  • Enquiries by source page and project type, from the enquiry log
  • Contact actions: phone, WhatsApp, form and booking clicks, by page
  • Page activity: which pages get read, and where visitors drop off
  • Search queries gaining impressions, from Google Search Console

The publication rule

One rule for every figure we publish.

A figure is published only when it passes three tests. If it fails any one of them, it stays internal until it does. This is the same rule applied to every case study on this site, including our own.

What gets published

Time-bound, traceable and approved.

  • Time-bound to a stated period, never left open-ended
  • Traceable to a log or a console export we can show
  • Approved by the client before it appears on the site
  • The same figures the client sees privately, not adjusted for the public page

What we will never claim

No guesses, no guarantees.

  • A guarantee of rankings on Google or any other search engine
  • A guarantee of citation in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity or any AI answer engine
  • Revenue or conversion figures we cannot trace to a log or an export
  • An uplift figure with no genuine before period to compare it with

Worked example

Panoptic Design, applied.

The method above is not theoretical. It is what has actually been tracked and reported since Panoptic Design's site went live.

Straight answers

Measurement, for people asking directly.

Do you guarantee rankings?

No. Nobody can honestly guarantee a position on Google or a citation in an AI answer engine, because neither is controlled by the business or its supplier. We measure what can be measured instead: impressions, clicks and queries in Search Console, and enquiries by source page in the enquiry log.

Can I see the enquiry log?

Yes. Clients see their own enquiry log directly, with source page, project type and contact preference for every enquiry. Personal details are kept out of reporting, so what is shared publicly, such as the example on this page, is redacted.

Do you report revenue?

No. We report enquiries, contact actions, page activity and search performance, all traceable to a log or a console export. We do not publish revenue or conversion figures we cannot trace, and we never claim a site paid for itself.

Is the tracking GDPR compliant?

Analytics events are consent-gated: GA4 and CTA click tracking run only after a visitor accepts cookies, so nothing is recorded about someone who declines. The enquiry log excludes personal details from reporting.

What if the numbers are bad?

We report them anyway. The point of measuring from day one is to see a genuine problem early and fix it, not to wait for a number worth publishing. A weekly report that only appears when the news is good is not measurement, it is marketing.
